Spraying in Moderate to Heavy Rain

Ever wonder what they put in those mysterious chemicals that make it invulnerable to water so that the drenched technician can apply it in a downpour and have it stick to your windows, siding, lawn and outer perimeter to effectively protect the exterior from all manner of pests? The answer is simple: Nothing, it doesn't. There is no residual quality that will adhere the chemical to your home with that much water coming down. Not only does the chemical obviously completely wash away, it is also likely against the label instructions. In the pest control world, the label is supposed to be the law. When you spray chemicals on and around a home in a moderate to heavy downpour, not only is it an absolutely stupid thing to do, it can also cause issues with contamination due to runoff. I will not spray the exterior of your home if heavy rain is almost certain in the forecast for the day without adequate time for the chemical to set and dry; and NEVER in direct moderate to heavy rain. If your company insists on sending out a technician for exterior service during a downpour, insist on a reschedule. YOU'RE the boss! Otherwise, other than getting fresh bait in your exterior rodent bait stations if you have them, you're paying for nothing at all. Yes, there are effective water-activated granular pesticide products that can be spread about the perimeter of your home, but it isn't nearly as effective or appropriate for the job alone that sprays would be under ideal conditions; anyone that tells you otherwise is a charlatan that doesn't deserve your business. If there isn't enough time for the chemicals to dry before incoming rain, I will either reschedule your service outright, or offer to compete the interior and make good on a raincheck for the exterior to be completed as soon as possible.
